As the fixtures begin to pick up for Valencia CF, it is a time for new faces to make their mark when given an opportunity to play. Jason is one such player, having returned from his loan spell at Getafe ready to show what he can do at Mestalla and beyond. The midfielder made his official debut this past weekend against Celta Vigo, and talked about the experience and his objectives to VCF Media.
“I really wanted to play for Valencia CF. I've achieved one of my goals, which was to play for a big club, and I hope to establish myself here,” he said at the Ciudad Deportiva, where he has been training for the upcoming match against Huesca.
Jason did not feature in the opening game of the campaign due to injury, but is now fit to play as and when coach Javi Gracia needs him.
“I didn't feel any problem for the entire game against Celta. That's good, and now my injury is in the past.”
“I think that we're all very motivated and were very focused during preseason. We've played two games now, and although it would be better if we had two victories, the 3 points against Levante were good for us. We hope to repeat that this weekend.”
The 2020/21 is a big one for Jason, who acknowledge the challenge and the opportunity he has ahead of him.
“It's what every player wants. Personally, I was really looking forward to coming here. In the end, this year could be the most important of my career. I hope to be able to enjoy it and make the most of it,” he says of the present campaign.
As for the match against Huesca, the Spaniard is treating it like any other contest -although it could be his home debut.
“At the end of the day, every game is important. We're focused on the next one, against Huesca, and we will try to take the 3 points. I think that we have to face every game as if it were the last. We have to go for the win -and even more so at home.”
